Today, we know that trauma is a much broader phenomenon than was once imagined. It is defined as any experience that creates feelings of overwhelmedness and/or an event that is perceived as life threatening. We also know that no two people have the same reaction to traumatic experiences. Yet, a hallmark of trauma is a sense of loss of connection to ourselves, our bodies, our families, others, and even to the world around us. It’s as if, in trauma, we inhale a strong sense of loss and personal defectiveness with no direction as to how to exhale.
In addition, co-disorders — eating disorders, sexual disorders and financial disorders — are common ways unresolved trauma surfaces and recycles in a selfdefeating manner. Desperation and exhaustion typically follow.
Onsite has developed the Healing Trauma Issues Program to address the pain, compulsive behavior cycles and disconnection that surrounds the trauma experience. Some of these programs are offered to co-educational groups, others are for women only.
This program can help you: • Identify trauma sources
• Develop tools to reconnect with the body, self and others
• Learn the role that spirituality plays in healing from trauma
• Understand healthy vs disordered responses to trauma which may include patterns related to sex, food and finances
