BINGE EATING AND COMPULSIVE OVEREATING

The binge eating and compulsive overeating workshop, created by Dr. Carolyn Ross, offers hope and help to those who have struggled with weight and food issues and with body dissatisfaction.  The workshop uses a combination of experiential exercises and small group work to go beyond dieting and the diet mentality. The activities are designed to identify and heal root causes of obesity and binge eating, enabling the individual to shift their relationship with food and their body.

Participants will examine how their relationship with food and their body has been shaped by beliefs resulting from previous life experiences.  During the workshop they will have the opportunity to process emotions and address behaviors that are associated with these beliefs. Specific experiential techniques such as psychodrama, guided imagery, mindfulness exercises and small group process work will be included.

This workshop offers a unique whole-person approach that combines proven complementary and alternative medicine techniques with conventional approaches for stopping binging, learning healthy behaviors and addressing issues of emotional distress.  Participants will learn to use nutritional approaches including dietary supplements and amino acids to break the diet habit, improve mood and energy and reduce cravings.  Participants will be able to examine the influence of trauma, abuse, neglect, loss, shame, dreams and hopes as they relate to their eating and weight.

Individuals in the workshop will experience an awakening of the body’s intuitive knowledge and wisdom. Over the course of the three-day workshop, participants will learn to make peace with their body, develop a new healthy relationship with food and will begin the healing of the body, mind and spirit.
